I'm a middle-aged woman who likes a decent ale. I can be something of an 'anorak' when it comes to reading labels, and pay far more attention to the %age ABV or OG than I ever do to the name. That's not to say I don't look at the names; quite often the clue to whether a beer is blonde or honey is in the name, and I've learned through experience to avoid these. I like my ale dark.
Top Totty... it's just a name. Consider what might be the reaction if the beer label had a picture on it of a scantily-clad man. Would there have been the outcry among female MPs? Would the men have objected? I have no idea. All I know is that because of this debacle I've heard of a 'new' beer, and if I ever see it for sale I shall read the label and possibly try it for myself.

Do ministers of the church get cross about names like Bishop's Finger? Again, I've no idea... but I suspect they don't. Maybe the picture on the Top Totty label is inappropriate, but I really can't find it in me to be offended by the name alone. Besides, can't 'totty' also be a good-looking male? Just a thought.
